Boys Weekend

Stuart had meetings in Dayton last week, so Sam and Clarence flew out to meet him and stay for the weekend. They went to see the Air Force Museum, saw a movie, and swam a lot at the hotel pool. Sam reported having a great time.

According to Sam, his favorite plane was the B-2 bomber. I asked if Daddy had told him he worked with the B-2, "No way!" was Sam's response. Stuart said he didn't want to influence his decision. Sam also liked the interactive exhibits-- in one he got to fly models against his Dad, and he really enjoyed that. Another favorite was the cafeteria, "They had cheese pizza AND hamburgers!"

Kate and I enjoyed a girl weekend on our side of the world. We had pedicures (kate's first) and went shopping at the river market. Everyone had a good time.

Here are some pictures of Sam's trip. His homework was to make a book describing his trip, so we'll keep that the old-fashioned, off-line way.

Easter Pictures

Yes, we celebrated Easter. The Easter bunny came and everything. We took a few pictures-- be sure to note the really cute red dress, because I had to take it back afterwards. According to Kate, "Mommy sold my dress back to the store." Mommy did that because the dress ripped (strap and hem) on the first wear and then the red bled all over the white ribbon during the first wash. The dress went back. I'm just glad they took it. It was cute for the day though!

Worst Mom Ever

So, I finally uploaded pictures from the last 6 months. No, that's not an exaggeration. The real horror is that there is a whole month (February 2010) during which I took NO pictures. What? It's a whole month of Sam and Kate history that's gone forever. What even happened that month? We'll never know.

I took on blogging about the kids because I was such a failure at baby book-keeping, and here we are again, with poor historical records. You'd think I had something else to do.

In case you're worried, the kids are great. Life is busy and great. Everyone is O.K. I'll try to do better, but I won't promise anything.

Kate: the baby whisperer

Kate is very excited (as are we all) about the coming addition to our extended/church family: Baby W. Baby W is still very much in utero, and therefore, all of this is a very abstract idea to Kate. She was sitting on Rebecca's lap on Sunday at lunch, and Rebecca told her that if she sat quietly, she might be able to feel the baby kick. I've never seen Kate that still. And, according to Rebecca and Kate, Baby W kicked and Kate felt it. As if all that goodness wasn't enough, Kate added, "I felt your baby, Rebecca! And now I can hear her crying!" Rebecca tried to explain that she was hearing another baby across the restaurant, but Kate was very certain, and declared with certainty: "No Rebecca. I hear YOUR baby."

Well, go figure. Kate's supersonic hearing extends to the womb. Forget those $30 heartbeat listeners they sell at Target (and don't work, by the way). Just have Kate come over and take a listen.
